National Play Day

The aim of National Play Day is to promote play (and recreation) opportunities for children and young people all across the country. Through this initiative, Meath Local Sports Partnership apply for funding to the Department of Children, Equality, Disability, Integration & Youth and manage applications on behalf of Meath County Council.

National Play Day

The National Play Day is just one component of the wider Summer of Play campaign; a government-led initiative designed to remind everyone, young and old, of the fundamental importance of play. Last year’s theme was “All play together”.

In previous years the following initiatives have been run in Meath:

  • Kite building packs & kite flying events and workshops for families
  • Skipping packs and tutorial workshops for families
  • Support scheme for Pre-schools & early years child care
  • Training day and equipment packs for pre-schools, early years child care & creches

Every year National Play Day is run during the first week in July. As soon as information is available on the dates and planned events for 2023 it will be available here.
