The Badminton School Programme provides the opportunity for primary schools in Meath to get involved in a new sport. Playing Badminton not only improves balance, flexibility, cardio & coordination but significantly improves motor skills. Social skills are further enhanced as players can also work as part of a team in a cooperative manner to develop and initiate game strategies to win a match.
Badminton Ireland and Meath Sports Partnership teamed up to roll out the Meath Schools Badminton Programme in 2020. The aim of the programme is to introduce children to the Sport of Badminton in a social, structured, supportive and enjoyable environment.
In return for full commitment to the programme, each school will receive:
This programme is valued at over €600 per school and is heavily subsidised by Badminton Ireland and Meath Sports Partnership. Thirteen schools took part in the 2019 programme with 19 teachers receiving training and over 351 pupils participating.

I have played Badminton for many years and I am delighted to have the opportunity to bring Badminton into our school, this will provide a new recreational sport for children who shy away from the larger team games.
This is a fantastic sport to increase hand-eye coordination and I have already seen a significant difference for some children who need help in this department.
