Women’s Social Soccer Programme

Womens Social Soccer Programme

Womens Social Soccer began in September 2023 and so far we have over 100 women taking part in social soccer each week. The programme is a collaboration between Meath LSP, FAI and 4 participating soccer clubs, Kenstown Rovers, Parkvilla FC, Dunshaughlin Youths and Rossin Rovers.  The programme is suitable for women 16+ and suits all fitness levels with no experience required, just come along and join in.  Training continues each week on the following evenings: 

  • Kentstown Rovers – Wednesdays @ 8pm
  • Parkvilla FC – Thursday s @ 9pm
  • Dunshaughlin Youths FC – Fridays @ 7.30pm

Special congratulations to the 20 women who recently took part in the Soccer Coaching Programme and qualified with their PDP1 soccer training qualification on 5th March. These new female coaches are gaining crucial coaching experience back within their clubs and will rejoin soon to complete their Coaching Teenage Girls workshop and Referee training. These workshops are also available to any women involved in soccer who would like to upskill their coaching/officiating qualifications. For more information contact Lisa at lodowd@meathcoco.ie

The current Soccer Coaching Programme included the following components:

  • PDP 1 female only training for all clubs involved in the programme. This comprehensive training initiative is the first step to becoming a qualified soccer coach. If all places are not taken, other clubs/players are invited to take part.
  • FAI ‘Officials’ Training Course available for those who would like to try their hand at other responsible roles in soccer: Referee, Match Officials etc
  • Safeguarding 1 – Child Protection Training – a comprehensive training initiative to protect and support all coaches working with children and vulnerable adults
  • Coaching Teenage Girls Workshop – a workshop designed specifically for coaches who are training teenage girls (date tbd)
