Good news for east Meath area

Meath Local Sports Partnership (LSP) was awarded funding in 2023 to develop an East Meath Amenity Hub. This hub will center around the Laytown, Bettystown, Mornington & Donacarney areas with a particular emphasis but not exclusive to using the beach/sea areas for outdoor activities.

Recently, Meath LSP held a meeting in Colaiste na hInse to provide background to the hub, and its objectives whilst gauging the interest and readiness of groups, clubs, services and individuals to support the East Meath Amenity Hub.

The purpose of this meeting was to bring agencies and organisations together to brainstorm and share ideas on what activities they run and where we can develop a collaborative approach to the delivery of sport and physical activity programmes to the following population groups:

  • Women & Girls
  • Ethnic Minorities
  • Disadvantaged communities
  • Older Adults
  • Men 35+
  • Young People
  • People with a disability

On the night, representatives from the clubs, groups and organisations in attendance, agreed to form a forum to drive initiatives and programmes for the east Meath area.

If you currently work in an agency or organisation or volunteer in a sports club in the area and would like to get involved by way of supporting or delivering programmes, please contact Una at upearson@meathcoco.ie or call 0469067887.
