DESCRIPTION:Socia-Ball is the new social basketball programme for women with the main emphasis on participation\, fun and fitness. In a fun and social setting\, women will have the opportunity to learn the key basketball skills and play in a supportive environment without the pressure of competition. The 6-week programme is aimed towards complete beginners and also those who may have previous experience. It is inclusive of all ages and fitness levels and will be delivered by qualified coaches. This is an ideal opportunity to try a new sport or revisit a sport that you previously enjoyed. DESCRIPTION:Laytown Beach Orienteering – training day \nOrienteering is a fantastic outdoor activity that combines running/walking with navigation (traditionally using a map and compass). Participants use their speed and coordination to locate a number of flags located around a course in the shortest time possible. Participants can time their run or compete against each other as part of a competitive event. \nREADY TO GO ORIENTEERING is a new orienteering training initiative that aims to train and equip participants with the skills and ability to teach the fundamentals of the sport of orienteering. \nMeath LSP are proud to host two new  “Ready to Go Orienteering” training initiatives in Meath \nIdeally suited for Teachers\, Youth Work leaders\, School Liaison officers and Community Leaders\, the 6-hour training will equip you with the skills and ability to teach the fundamentals of orienteering to others. \nOrienteering develops many skills for children & young people including problem solving\, teamwork\, decision making and self-awareness. \nReady to Go training includes: \n\nTraining\nTraining Resources\nOrienteering Pack\n\nCost: €60 each \nNext training day is: \n\nLocation: Laytown\nDate: Thursday 4th May\nTime: 10.30am – 3.30pm\n\nParticipants must be over 18yrs of age. DESCRIPTION:Meath LSP is delighted to announce the return of the 12th Royal County 5km & 10km Run/Walk on Bank Holiday Monday 1st May in Kells! \nThe event is organised by Meath Local Sports Partnership with the support of the Headfort Arms Hotel\, Kells AC\, St. Brigid’s AC\, Kells Gardai\, Club Active Kells\, Kells Swimming Pool\, Kells Municipal District\, Civil Defence and local volunteers. Suitable for runners\, joggers and walkers! Participants must be over 16yrs to enter the 10km and over 12yrs  to enter the 5km distance. *NO REGISTRATIONS ON THE DAY* \nGeneral Information\nAge Requirements \nParticipants must be over 16yrs to enter the 10km and over 12yrs to enter the 5km distance. DESCRIPTION:Recommendations from Sport Ireland are that every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. This person should be child centered in focus and should have as their primary aim the establishment of a child centered ethos within the club. They are the link between the children and the adults in the club and also take responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy etc. impacts on children and their Sports Leaders. \nThe Club Children’s Officer should have the following functions: \n\nTo promote awareness of the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport in Ireland within the club and particularly among the children and their parents/guardians. This could be achieved by the production of information leaflets\, the establishment of children’s/age-group specific notice boards and by regular information meetings for the children and their parents/guardians.\nTo influence policy and practice within the club in order to prioritise children’s needs.\nTo provide an accessible resource to children through the creation of forums.\n\nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Awareness/Child Protection Training workshop. \nIt is recommended to have at least one Club Children’s Officer per club or if there is a large number of both boys and girls in the club\, to have two Club Children’s Officers – one male and one female. \nCost: The cost for this course is €20 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €30 per person. \nHow to book: To book a place on this course please call Lynn on 0469067887 or email lynn.oreilly@meathcoco.ie to check availability of spaces. \n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course. \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation. DESCRIPTION:The third part of the ISC Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme is the Designated Liaison Person workshop. \nEvery club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However\, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role\, the Club Children’s Officer can be appointed as Designated Liaison Person once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role. The organisation’s child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the Designated Liaison Person and the responsibilities attached to the role. \nA person appointed to the Designated Liaison Person position in a club must have completed the Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfare & Protection and should complete the NEW Designated Liaison Person 3 hour workshop. \nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Child Welfare & Protection Workshop. \nA club may appoint the same person to both the CCO and DLP positions however best practice advises that they are kept as separate roles. \nCost: The cost for this course is €20 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €30 per person. \nTo book: Please contact Lynn on 0469067887 or email lynn.oreilly@meathcoco.ie \n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course. \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation.
