DESCRIPTION:Date: Wednesday\, 1st April\nTime:  6.30pm to 10pm\nVenue: Laytown & Bettystown Golf Club \nThe Sports Injuries First Aid Course is aimed at coaches\, mentors\, teachers\, supervisors\, players\, athletes and volunteers. \nThis course covers a comprehensive range of topics to prepare participants to administer First Aid care. Participants will learn practical skills so that they can deal competently with situations that may arise. \nCourse Content \nThis course has an emphasis on dealing with minor Sports Injuries. \n\nScene Management\nBleeding and Wounds\nTreatment for Shock\nHeart Conditions\nFractures\nSprains & Strains\nUnconsciousness & the Recovery Position\n\nOn Successful Completion Course\, participants are issued with a First Aid Certificate of attendance. All instructors & examiners hold current certification from the Occupational First Aid Assessment Agent and are listed on their register maintained there on behalf of the Health and Safety Authority. \nThe cost for this course is €35 per person if you are in a club in Meath or €40 if you are in a club outside of Meath. \nThis course is now full. DESCRIPTION:Recommendations from Sport Ireland are that every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. This person should be child centered in focus and should have as their primary aim the establishment of a child centered ethos within the club. They are the link between the children and the adults in the club and also take responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy etc. impacts on children and their Sports Leaders. \nThe Club Children’s Officer should have the following functions: \n\nTo promote awareness of the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport in Ireland within the club and particularly among the children and their parents/guardians. This could be achieved by the production of information leaflets\, the establishment of children’s/age-group specific notice boards and by regular information meetings for the children and their parents/guardians.\nTo influence policy and practice within the club in order to prioritise children’s needs.\nTo provide an accessible resource to children through the creation of forums.\n\nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Awareness/Child Protection Training workshop. \nIt is recommended to have at least one Club Children’s Officer per club or if there is a large number of both boys and girls in the club\, to have two Club Children’s Officers – one male and one female. \nCost: The cost for this course is €25 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €40 per person. \nThis course is now full: Please call Aoife on 0469067887 or email aheffernan@meathcoco.ie to put your name on the cancellation list. \n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course. \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation. The coach led taster initiative will demonstrate a variety of techniques to help your child be comfortable in the water and introduce them to an essential life skill. SUMMARY:Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person Workshop
DESCRIPTION:The third part of the ISC Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme is the Designated Liaison Person workshop. \nEvery club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However\, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role\, the Club Children’s Officer can be appointed as Designated Liaison Person once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role. The organisation’s child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the Designated Liaison Person and the responsibilities attached to the role. \nA person appointed to the Designated Liaison Person position in a club must have completed the Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfare & Protection and should complete the NEW Designated Liaison Person 3 hour workshop. \nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Child Welfare & Protection Workshop. \n\n\nA club may appoint the same person to both the CCO and DLP positions however best practice advises that they are kept as separate roles. \nCost: The cost for this course is €25 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €40 per person. \nTo book: Please contact Aoife on 0469067887 or email aheffernan@meathcoco.ie \n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course. \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation.
