SUMMARY:Safeguarding 2 Club Children's Officer Workshop (FULLY BOOKED)
DESCRIPTION:Recommendations from Sport Ireland are that every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. This person should be child centered in focus and should have as their primary aim the establishment of a child centered ethos within the club. They are the link between the children and the adults in the club and also take responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy etc. impacts on children and their Sports Leaders. \nThe Club Children’s Officer should have the following functions: \n\nTo promote awareness of the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport in Ireland within the club and particularly among the children and their parents/guardians. This could be achieved by the production of information leaflets\, the establishment of children’s/age-group specific notice boards and by regular information meetings for the children and their parents/guardians.\nTo influence policy and practice within the club in order to prioritise children’s needs.\nTo provide an accessible resource to children through the creation of forums.\n\nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Awareness/Child Protection Training workshop. \nIt is recommended to have at least one Club Children’s Officer per club or if there is a large number of both boys and girls in the club\, to have two Club Children’s Officers – one male and one female. \nCost: The cost for this course is €25 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €40 per person. \nThis course is now full: Please call Aoife on 0469067887 or email aheffernan@meathcoco.ie to put your name on the cancellation list. \n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course. \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation. Please note that there are no refunds if you fail to attend on the night.

DESCRIPTION:Gaelic4Mothers & Others! \nDate: Friday\, 6th March \nTime: 7:00pm – 9:30pm\nVenue: Donaghmore Ashbourne GFC\nCost: FREE\nCome along and give it a try as we celebrate Women in Sport Week! \n  \nThis programme aims to showcase why Gaelic 4 Mothers & Others is such a fantastic initiative — inclusive\, social and great fun. The session will be fully indoors and all in a relaxed and welcoming environment. \nWhat’s happening on the night? \n\nFun games\nMusic\nSmall-sided matches\nRefreshments\nPlenty of laughter and great craic\n\nWhat is Gaelic4Mothers & Others?\nThe Gaelic4Mothers&Others initiative\, sponsored by Sports Direct\, is an innovative way to introduce mothers and other women to playing Ladies Gaelic Football. Mothers often drop their kids to training and call back to collect them\, but the Ladies Gaelic Football Association wants to change that. The Gaelic4Mothers&Others initiative sees women playing Ladies Gaelic Football in a fun\, non-competitive and social environment. Gaelic4Mothers&Others provides an opportunity for women to get their recommended weekly exercise in a fun way while meeting other mothers in the area. The initiative has proved hugely popular with women of all ages and has taken off in all 32 counties with success stories popping up all over the country\, and most recently in International units. There are Provincial Festivals organised in each Province every year and one National Festival which have been a huge success with over 2500 participants taking part in the National Festival Day each year.

SUMMARY:Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person Workshop (FULLY BOOKED)
DESCRIPTION:The third part of the ISC Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme is the Designated Liaison Person workshop. \nEvery club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However\, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role\, the Club Children’s Officer can be appointed as Designated Liaison Person once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role. The organisation’s child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the Designated Liaison Person and the responsibilities attached to the role. \nA person appointed to the Designated Liaison Person position in a club must have completed the Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfare & Protection and should complete the NEW Designated Liaison Person 3 hour workshop. \nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Child Welfare & Protection Workshop. \n\n\nA club may appoint the same person to both the CCO and DLP positions however best practice advises that they are kept as separate roles. \nCost: The cost for this course is €25 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €40 per person. \nThis course is now full: Please call Aoife on 0469067887 or email aheffernan@meathcoco.ie to put your name on the cancellation list.\n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course. \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation. Please note that there are no refunds if you fail to attend on the night.
