DESCRIPTION:Meath LSP is delighted to announce the return of the 11th Royal County 5km & 10km Run/Walk on Bank Holiday Monday 2nd May in Kells! \nThe event is organised by Meath Local Sports Partnership with the support of the Headfort Arms Hotel\, Kells AC\, St. Brigid’s AC\, Kells Gardai\, Club Active Kells\, Kells Swimming Pool\, Kells Municipal District\, Civil Defence and local volunteers. The Royal County 5k/10k event is licensed by the Athletics Association of Ireland and is suitable for runners\, joggers and walkers!  Participants must be over 16yrs to enter the 10km and over 12yrs  to enter the 5km distance. \nStarting Times\n10.30am – 10km\n11am – 5km \nPrices  \n5km – €15 \n10km – €20 \n*Virtual option also available. Cost is €15 for 10km or €12 for 5km. Entry includes t-shirt and postage.  \nOnline Registration\nREGISTRATION IS NOW OPEN! DESCRIPTION:Date: Tuesday 26th April\nTime: 6.30pm to 9.30pm\nVenue: Zoom Online \nRecommendations from Sport Ireland are that every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. This person should be child centred in focus and should have as their primary aim the establishment of a child centered ethos within the club. They are the link between the children and the adults in the club and also take responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy etc. impacts on children and their Sports Leaders. \nThe Club Children’s Officer should have the following functions: \n\nTo promote awareness of the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport in Ireland within the club and particularly among the children and their parents/guardians. DESCRIPTION:Date: Wednesday 16th March\nTime: 6.30pm-9.30pm\nVenue: Claremont Stadium\, Navan \nThe third part of the ISC Child Welfare & Protection Training Programme is the Designated Liaison Person workshop. \nEvery club/organisation should designate a person to be responsible for dealing with any concerns about the protection of children. The Designated Liaison Person is responsible for reporting allegations or suspicions of child abuse to TUSLA Child and Family Agency and/or An Garda Siochána. It is recommended that this person is a senior club person. However\, if there is difficulty identifying a separate individual to take this role\, the Club Children’s Officer can be appointed as Designated Liaison Person once the club/organisation is clear about the responsibilities of each role. The organisation’s child protection policy and procedures should include the name and contact details of the Designated Liaison Person and the responsibilities attached to the role. \nA person appointed to the Designated Liaison Person position in a club must have completed the Basic Awareness Workshop in Child Welfare & Protection and should complete the NEW Designated Liaison Person 3 hour workshop. \nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 3 Designated Liaison Person (DLP) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Child Welfare & Protection Workshop. \nA club may appoint the same person to both the CCO and DLP positions however best practice advises that they are kept as separate roles. \nCost: The cost for this course is €20 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €30 per person. \nTo book: Please call Lynn on 046-9067337 or email lynn.oreilly@meathcoco.ie \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation. Participants will learn practical skills so that they can deal competently with situations that may arise. \nCourse Content \nThis course has an emphasis on dealing with minor Sports Injuries. \n\nScene Management\nBleeding and Wounds\nTreatment for Shock\nHeart Conditions\nFractures\nSprains & Strains\nUnconsciousness & the Recovery Position\nOn Successful Completion Course\, participants are issued with a First Aid Certificate of attendance. SUMMARY:Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Recommendations from Sport Ireland are that every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. This person should be child centred in focus and should have as their primary aim the establishment of a child centered ethos within the club. They are the link between the children and the adults in the club and also take responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy etc. impacts on children and their Sports Leaders. \nThe Club Children’s Officer should have the following functions: \n\nTo promote awareness of the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport in Ireland within the club and particularly among the children and their parents/guardians. This could be achieved by the production of information leaflets\, the establishment of children’s/age-group specific notice boards and by regular information meetings for the children and their parents/guardians.\nTo influence policy and practice within the club in order to prioritise children’s needs.\nTo provide an accessible resource to children through the creation of forums.\n\nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Awareness/Child Protection Training workshop. \nIt is recommended to have at least one Club Children’s Officer per club or if there is a large number of both boys and girls in the club\, to have two Club Children’s Officers – one male and one female. \nCost:The cost for this course is €20 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €30 per person. \nHow to book: To book a place on this course please call Lynn on 046-9067337 or email lynn.oreilly@meathcoco.ie to check availability of spaces. \n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course.  \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation. DESCRIPTION:Meath Local Sports Partnership offers a 3-hour basic awareness workshop for leaders within sports clubs/organisations. \n\nThe workshop will highlight the main principles of the Code and look at measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people.\nAs well as undertaking child protection training\, all clubs are encouraged to adopt child protection policies and procedures as outlined in the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport.\n\nParticipants attending Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness workshop must be over 18 years of age to attend. \nThe cost of the course is €20 if you are in a club in Meath and €30 if you are in a club outside of Meath. \nTo book your place\, please email lynn.oreilly@meathcoco.ie or call 046-9067337 to check availability of spaces. \n\n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course.  \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation.
