DESCRIPTION:Meath LSP in partnership with Monaghan\, Louth & Cavan LSPs are running a series of online Sport Ireland Coaching Workshops in October and November. \nThese workshops comprise of the following: \nCoaching Children: \nThis series is a set of four workshops of 3 hours each. \n\nWorkshop 1: Coaching Children Successfully in Sport\nWorkshop 2: Child-Centred Coaching – Understanding Child Development & Learning and its Impact on How We Coach.\nWorkshop 3: Developing Physical Literacy through Sport 1 – Coaching Children to Move.\nWorkshop 4: Developing Physical Literacy through Sport 2 – Coaching Children to Think.\n\nDates: Tuesday 6th\, 13th\, 20th\, 27th of February \nTime: 6:30-9:30pm \nCost: €30 \nRegister: HERE \nCoaching Teenage Girls in Sport:  \nThe 3-hour workshop is designed specifically to support coaches/parents of girls aged 12-17 years of age. DESCRIPTION:Meath Local Sports Partnership offers a 3-hour basic awareness workshop for leaders within sports clubs/organisations. \n\nThe workshop will highlight the main principles of the Code and look at measures that clubs can take to create and maintain the safest possible environment for sport for young people.\nAs well as undertaking child protection training\, all clubs are encouraged to adopt child protection policies and procedures as outlined in the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport.\n\nParticipants attending Safeguarding 1 Basic Awareness workshop must be over 18 years of age to attend. \nThe cost of the course is €25 if you are in a club in Meath and €40 if you are in a club outside of Meath. \nTo book your place\, please email mlsp@meathcoco.ie or call 0469067887 to check availability of spaces. \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation. SUMMARY:Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Recommendations from Sport Ireland are that every club involved with children and young people should appoint a Club Children’s Officer. This person should be child centered in focus and should have as their primary aim the establishment of a child centered ethos within the club. They are the link between the children and the adults in the club and also take responsibility for monitoring and reporting to the Club Management Committee on how club policy etc. impacts on children and their Sports Leaders. \nThe Club Children’s Officer should have the following functions: \n\nTo promote awareness of the Code of Ethics and Good Practice for Children’s Sport in Ireland within the club and particularly among the children and their parents/guardians. This could be achieved by the production of information leaflets\, the establishment of children’s/age-group specific notice boards and by regular information meetings for the children and their parents/guardians.\nTo influence policy and practice within the club in order to prioritise children’s needs.\nTo provide an accessible resource to children through the creation of forums.\n\nIt is essential that those who wish to attend the Safeguarding 2 Club Children’s Officer (CCO) Training have attended the Safeguarding 1 Awareness/Child Protection Training workshop. \nIt is recommended to have at least one Club Children’s Officer per club or if there is a large number of both boys and girls in the club\, to have two Club Children’s Officers – one male and one female. \nCost: The cost for this course is €25 per person for clubs in Meath\, for participants outside Meath the cost is €40 per person. \nHow to book: To book a place on this course please call Trish on 0469067887 or email mlsp@meathcoco.ie to check availability of spaces. \n*A laptop/ipad/smart phone along with a good internet connection is required for this course. \nAs demand for places is high\, please make every effort to give enough notice of cancellation.
