Cormeen Community Development is a community based group working to improve their local community through a range of initiatives. A key project of the group is a Community Sports Complex which comprises a large sports hall, a squash court, a handball/racquetball alley, a meeting room and a fitness room. We are seeking to hire a Sports Coordinator on a part-time basis who will be charged with organising and assisting with running activities and classes for adults and children. The role is part-time comprising 25 hours per week and will be on a contract basis. Remuneration is €9.15 per hour. Closing date for applications is 5pm Friday 12th August. Job Description

Sports Co-ordinator (part time)


Position:              Sports Coordinator

Reporting To:    Sports Complex Committee

Location:             Cormeen, Moynalty, Kells, Co Meath

Job Function:     To initiate and faciliate sporting activities and maximise the use of the Cormeen Sports Complex facility.

To supervise and co-ordinate sports and social activities for people of all ages.


Duties & Responsibilities of the role

  • Provide coaching and supervised sports and fitness opportunities in a safe environment for people who use the complex.


  • Maintain the Sports Complex Facility on a day-to-day basis, ensuring facilities are clean and presentable and suitable for use.


  • Make facilities available during arranged opening hours.


  • Facilitate the development of sporting and social opportunities for people of all ages within the community.


  • Work closely with Schools and other local groups in the area to maximise the use of the Cormeen Sports Complex facility.


  • Work closely with existing staff to manage booking and maximise usage and revenue making capacity of the Sports Complex.


  • Provide regular reports at staff meetings.


Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:


  • Recognised qualifications in the provision and management of sporting and fitness activities for people of all ages.


  • Demonstrable ability in initiating and planning sporting events and seeing them through to a successful completion.
  • Experience or an interest in working with people of all ages in a community setting.


  • Be aware of the importance of good health and safety practices in providing community facilities and services.


  • Have experience in taking part in and/or coordinating social activities.


  • Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.


  • Have or be willing to provide Garda clearance in relation to working with Children and vulnerable adults.
  • Be imaginative and creative in their new role.


  • Be willing to carry out extra duties as they occur.
