“A Partnership Approach in Meath”

Meath LSP recently facilitated an interactive workshop entitled “A Partnership Approach in Meath.” This event focused on engaging with the national governing bodies (NGB) of sport with a key purpose being to discuss working together in partnership to increase sport and physical activity opportunities in Meath. This is in line with Healthy Ireland’s National Physical Activity Plan, and Meath LSP’s strategic plan of “More People, More Active, More Often”.

The event proved hugely valuable as 16 National Governing Bodies, both major and minor sports attended. Discussions on the day included current programmes delivered in Meath, target audiences reached through these programmes and how we can support one another in our work. The outcomes of these discussions allowed us to highlight what the first steps are to create and build a stronger partnership approach in Meath.

Key learning’s from the representatives of the NGB’s included:

“The need to communicate as an NGB more effectively with the LSP”
“The need to work together on coach education”
“The need for more programmes for people with a disability/older adults”
“Meath LSP and other organisations share the same goals as ourselves”

Feedback on the event also included the following;

“Very informative and great way to meet other NGB’s and identify how we can work together to make more interesting and interactive programmes”
“Highly useful & informative, would like to see more networking opportunities”

Meath LSP would like to thank all the NGB representatives who attended on the day. We look forward to further engagement as we aim to develop and enhance the partnership approach in Meath in 2018.
