Sports First Aid & AED(Defibrillator) Training

The recognition, assessment, and immediate on-site management of sports injuries are crucial to facilitate rehabilitation and to minimise further risk of harm to the athlete. This certificate, for coaches, instructors, teachers, supervisors, sports assistants, and volunteers, teaches the medical assessment and management of a wide variety of sports injuries. Importantly, participants will also know how to recognise when professional medical referral is warranted.

Rescue Emergency Care Sports First Aid

A 2-day Sports First Aid course will teach students how to apply general first aid skills to anyone in an emergency with the emphasis on practical skills which can be applied anywhere.

The course will cover the following areas:

  • Disorders of Breathing & C.P.R
  • Wounds, Bleeding & Trauma
  • Fractures & Broken Bone
  • Spinal Injuries
  • Burns & Scalds
  • Medical Emergencies

All course participants who successfully complete the course will receive certification valid for three years, recognising their achievement in fulfilling the course criteria.

 

Sports First Aid

Meath Local Sports Partnership, as part of their Sports Training and Development agenda, will provide courses Sports First Aid.
The course being provided 1 Day Basic Sports First Aid Course is aimed at coaches, mentors, teachers, supervisors, players, athletes and volunteers.
It teaches the medical assessment and management of a wide variety of sports injuries. Importantly, participants will also know how to recognise when professional medical referral is warranted.

Course Content
The course is completed over 6 hours and is designed to provide the participant with an elementary level of both practical and theoretical information on the basic life support procedures and techniques in order that they can provide this basic patient care whilst awaiting more advanced care.

The course will cover the following areas:
Accident Procedure;
Patient Assessment;
Safe Airway;
Recovery Position;
Vital Signs;
Choking;
CPR;
Bleeding, Shock and
Bandaging;
Fractures & Splinting and Soft Tissue Injury.

Award
Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance.

For anyone who has completed First Aid Training please check your certificate for expiry date and update your skills.

AED Cardiac First Response Training

This course combines CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) training with instruction in AED (Automated External Defibrillation); the two skills needed to save the life of a sudden cardiac arrest victim.
