Take an active part in the Royal County weekend 2021!

Great news, the much-anticipated Royal County event returns to Kells over the Bank Holiday weekend in May this year. It’s the 10th anniversary of this hugely popular event and promises to be extra special.

New for 2021 will be:

  • Virtual edition – given that we are currently living under level 5 restrictions, the organisers, Meath Local Sports Partnership (LSP) have decided to host a virtual edition of the Royal County.
  • 3k distance included (to celebrate the new opening of the fabulous ring road walkway around Kells)
  • Bespoke finishers medal – commemorative 10th anniversary custom made medal

The virtual 10th Royal County event will now accommodate the following distances: 3k; 5k & 10k. Participants are welcome to walk, run or jog any of those distances over the Bank Holiday weekend in May. The virtual aspect of this year’s event means that you can complete the actual Royal County route (maps available to download from our website) or a route of your choice closer to your home at a time which suits you.

Perhaps you`re just getting back to walking or maybe have started to jog over the lockdown period or you just enjoy running, whatever your reason is, Meath LSP have designed podcasts which will help you reach your goal of completing a 3k, 5k or 10k distance…all in time for the Royal County event in May. Check out our website or social media pages for more information.

Registration is currently open for this year’s Royal County – see www.meathsports.ie; cost of entry is €12 and includes a must have limited edition t-shirt and custom-made medal. Keep an eye on the website and fakebook pages for a sneak preview of the tee shirt and medal!

Every year we enjoy the support of our key partners – St Brigid’s AC, Headfort Arms Hotel; Kells Gardai; Meath County Council; Club Active, Kells; Meath Civil Defence and local volunteers. Due to the virtual nature of our event, the level of support generally required isn’t needed this year.  It’s our turn now, to recognise those supporters for their commitment over the past years by including their logo on all of our merchandise – new to the list of supporters in 2021 is the newly formed athletic club in Kells. Your support is what makes this a great Kells community event, thank you.

Anyone interested in participating in the 2021 Royal County event should register now (avoid disappointment of not having t-shirt in time for the event) – see www.meathsports.ie or check out our social media pages or contact 046 9067337.
