Meath’s Sports Ability Forum was established in 2008, under the Sports Inclusion Disability Officer (SIDO) Programme. The forum is comprised of representatives from disability services, established disability sports groups, people with a disability, representatives from parents of children with a disability and other organisations with a disability remit. The main aim of the Sports Ability Forum is the effective and efficient completion of the objectives outlined in the Meath Local Sports Partnership Disability in Sport Stragegic Plan 2009-2012. The monthly meetings allow for regular updates on current practices, initiatives and resources while providing the forum members the opportunity to share information and work in partnership with a common goal of increasing overall participation in sport and physical activity.
The sports ability forum provides an excellent opportunity to structure and enhance the delivery of sport for people with disabilities in Co. Meath. If you have any queries in relation to the forum or would like to become a forum member please contact Terry Donegan, Sports Inclusion Disability Officer at (046) 9067337.
