50km Tara Loop

50km Tara Loop (12yrs+) - Start 11am

Cyclists start on Castle street, Trim in front of the impressive St. Johns Castle, heading out to roundabout straight through onto the Dublin road R154. Cyclists proceed for 5km before taking the left turn at Branganstown sign posted (Haymaker) road number L62034. From here it`s a relatively flat and straight spin to the t-junction in Kilmessan (11.7km). Turning right at this junction, cyclists follow the road through Kilmessan passing by the famed Station House restaurant. Having travelled approximately 16km in total, cyclists approach Bective crossroads taking a right towards Bellinter.
At Bellinter crossroads cyclists turn right heading towards their first climb. This steep incline brings cyclists to the Hill of Tara.
Food stop at Hill of Tara. After the food stop, cyclists have a nice easy down hill for approx 3.2km, straight through the crossroads up to a t-junction where they turn right. This is followed by a number of smaller turns, trip through forest road which eventually leads cyclists down past Dunsany castle and onto the outskirts of the village of Dunsany. A quick turn right and an immediate turn left brings cyclists back to Trim-Dublin road at Dunsany lodge. Turn right and straight through to the water stop in Kiltale.
After the cyclists have refreshed they turn left along the L6202 moving through Martintown and Freffans. At Ifferknock cyclists take a left towards Laracor. At Laracor cyclists turn right and it’s a 3km straight spin back into Trim. Cyclists arrive in Trim at the  Summerhill roundabout (50km), from here it`s straight through up to the lights on Emmett St, turn right on to Market street and back to the finish on Castle St. Complete distance travelled is 52.2km.
