Meath Local Sports Partnership welcomes the return of the An Post Meath Heritage Cycle Tour on Sunday 29th July 2012.

The first cycle event of this kind in Meath was held in 2009 has run on an annual basis since; the event has been an outstanding success with over 1800 cyclists of all ages and cycling abilities taking part in 2011.

So lets build on this and make it an even bigger and better event in 2012!

Routes

There are 4 routes in the event for 2012 -

The 11km Family Spin is open to all but cyclists under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The 50 km Tara Loop. Those familiar with the cycle tour will have been accustomed to participating in the 40km route. This route has been extended to 50km for 2012. It takes place along a relatively flat route (just watch out for the Hill at Tara) and is suitable for people of a reasonably good fitness level and recreational cyclists.

The 100km Royal Tour  features slight changes for 2012. The 160km Royal Challenge has significant changes for 2012 none more so than the inclusion of Slieve Breagh (Downey's Mountain) and the exclusion of the Oldcastle/Lough Carew area.

These two routes are only for the very experienced, the very fit, and those who relish a serious challenge. They require lots of stamina and cycling experience but, the sense of achievement on completion will make it all worthwhile.

Go on, get on yer bike, for the An Post Meath Heritage Cycle Tour!

All routes start and finish in the Heritage town of Trim.
