Sli na Sláinte Walking Leader Training

Walking Leader Training

Walking Leader Training is primarily aimed at people wishing to promote walking in the community or workplace.

Irish Heart Foundation are subsidising the Walking Leader Training weekend and there is a nominal cost of €80, this will cover two nights shared accommodation as well as breakfast, lunch and coffee breaks. It will also cover your tutor costs and the materials for the duration of the course. Evening meals are not included. All weekend courses start at 7.30pm on Friday evening and finish on Sunday afternoon.

Before committing to the training, it is important to remember that the aim of each course is to have a panel of trained leaders ready to implement their skills in their own communities. We will therefore expect all participants to organise walks on a regular basis after the course has ended.
For details on upcoming training dates please see the calendar of courses/events.

Sli na Sláinte Routes

Slí na Sláinte stands for 'path to health'. Developed by the Irish Heart Foundation, it's the new outgoing way to make walking far more enjoyable.
Already, it's capturing the attention of the young and old, not only in Ireland
but in Europe and other parts of the world too! And no wonder, because it's
a fun healthy way for the average adult to accumulate the recommended 30
minutes of physical activity, on most, preferably all days of the week.
Marked by bright colourful signposts which are not numbered and are situated at 1 km intervals, you'll find Slí na Sláinte walk routes all over Ireland.

Simply follow the Km signs, set your pace to suit your enjoyment and you'll quickly feel better and get fitter. You will also experience a great sense of achievement.
